💼 Launching a Business and Relocating

So, in my journeying, The Chopping Block would not be my last stop. I eventually landed in Stratford at Joel's Barber's Lounge, which was a new location by a young Spanish brother who was relocating from Norwalk, Connecticut. At the time, Joel had two shops. Joel gave me the keys and an interview, and we became good friends and comrades in this craft. With the blessings from my newfound brother, we built this shop to the heights of great potential. Now I knew where I was supposed to be and what I was supposed to be doing. 

The urge to have my own place was growing stronger and stronger. So, after talking to my wife, I started piecemealing my shop in my mind and in my basement; it was going to become my next place of being. On August 19, 2019, I signed the lease to my new Barbershop, which was located in Bridgeport, Connecticut on 566 Park Avenue. We did all the work needed to open the shop ourselves. After a few setbacks. We had our Grand Opening on March 12, 2020. It was a beautiful day—the weekend after my birthday, so it was a double celebration. All things went well, the future was bright, and on March 20, 2020, the world shut down. It was a WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC; nobody was doing business except essential workers deemed by the government. 

I continued to work on my shop while the pandemic was active, getting it prepared for the day that we would be open again and ready for business. That time never came because one day, as I was sitting in the shop, talking to God as I always do—stating my concerns and things of that nature about my wife (who was now a new mother) and my new baby—out of nowhere, He said to me, "MOVE." 

To which I said, "I am broke! I have no money," and the reply was, "Haven't I always taken care of you, my Child?" So I went home and spoke to my wife about relocating. The conversation went sort of like this: 

● Me: "Let's move." 

● Her: "Where would we go?" 

● Me: "I want to be wherever you are." 

We ended up in Bowie, Maryland, where I changed my D.B.A. to Alwayz EXcellent Kutz.
